About The Symposium

Many private vascular practices are having to shut down due to changes in the economy and government regulations affecting the medical profession. Accordingly, to continue providing quality care to their patients, vascular surgeons must be well-informed about all current aspects of running a successful practice.

To help future vascular surgeons succeed, the Mote Vascular Foundation has provided a yearly Symposium entitled "Building a successful vascular practice: what you were not taught in your fellowship." This program has been held yearly in Sarasota, Florida, in conjunction with Sarasota Vascular Specialists' vascular surgeons. Now entering its 12th year, this Symposium could not be held in person in Sarasota because of the COVID 19 epidemic. Accordingly, the organizers have developed a virtual meeting that will incorporate multiple subjects to allow attendees to provide a successful, ethical, and highly functional practice. The Symposium has been geared primarily towards vascular fellows about to enter academic or community practice, but now also established vascular surgeons. Twenty-four invited faculty from both academic and community practices, as well as attorneys, will provide lectures involving billing and coding, medicolegal aspects, electronic medical records, managing finances, hiring and firing, developing an outpatient Angio suite, running a vascular lab, incorporating allied health professionals, research opportunities, contract negotiations (with private groups, academic institutions, and other formats), developing a vein practice, balancing personal life, marketing and branding, and other essential topics.
